Emulsion Removers
Emulsion Removers, also known as Stencil Removers, are the chemical that removes your exposed stencil from the screen. Stencil removing is also known as "screen reclaiming." This process should be done after you have removed all traces of ink from your screen. Any ink or ink residue on the screen will prevent the stencil remover from breaking through to the stencil, resulting in a poor reclaiming.
Reclaiming your screens is simple. The first step once you are done printing is to remove any remaining ink in the screen as well as any tape used on the screen. Take the screen to your washout area, and apply a liberal amount of stencil remover to both sides of the screen. Take a dedicated scrub brush (do NOT use this brush for anything other than stencil remover, you can lock up your screens!) and brush the stencil remover ensuring that it covers all areas of the stencil. Allow the stencil remover to sit for 30-60 seconds, but DO NOT allow the stencil remover to dry on your screen. It will lock up your stencil! Once the stencil remover has had time to break through the stencil and loosen it, apply a steady stream of water in a back and forth motion on the screen until you have removed all of the stencil. Stubborn areas of the screen (most commonly the edges where ink floods) may require a second application of stencil remover.
